Fascinating man, fascinating life, all too short. He lived until the age of 44 but possessed one of humanity's greatest literary imaginations, complemented by exquisite English. In terms of posterity, I suppose it usually happens that writers become associated with only 1 or 2 of their most popular or famous works. This is the case with RLS as well, though he wrote a very substantial number of novels, short stories, essays, travelogues, & poetry beyond the few for which he's best remembered. Those that use Scottish dialect are more challenging but should be pursued nonetheless. Rarely has RLS received justice in the numerous movie versions of his works, though most, of course, never have been filmed. If one is willing to read ONE, & ONLY one, of the Scottish author's novels, I'd suggest "The Master of Ballantrae". I read it for the 1st-time about a year ago & was transported by it. Of course, as a history buff, I loved the setting & time-period, so I was predisposed to like it, but I don't think a person could find a more satisfying novel. Although RLS wrote on a high plane of literary artistry, his stories aren't impossibly dense, though readers should be prepared for their fluid literary perfection, a type of English that, sadly, no longer exists. In short, the man simply was a great storyteller, in a class by himself.

Nice is more than nice. Yeah, it’s crammed with trippers tripping over other trippers; a lot of the non-Vieille Ville architecture isn’t floating anyone’s boat; heck, even the famed Promenade des Anglais can seem a drag of a main drag if you’re not in the mood. But in toto, and laying aside your preconceived notions, you’ll be charmed by a gorgeous Italianate Old Town; wooed by the winning weather; seduced by the seemingly preternaturally cerulean sea; hell, even the locals seem ok, for a tourist town. Just don’t mention the beach.

During rainy season the afternoon temperature could drop until -3degC or more,, and another fact about Mount Kinabalu, it's highest peak (the Victoria Peak, approximately 41++m) still haven't been conquered by any climbers due to so dangerous to reach the top of it's vertical summit
